As we move towards Memorial Day and the start of summer, we highlight a superintendent who grew up a couple miles from our offices and spotlight a high rise making huge changes to its common areas in the City of Orange.

DBaC Employee Spotlight

Superintendent Mike Parks grew up in Newport Beach with many of the team members at DBaC, Inc. While he was born in Stuttgart, Germany he has called our town his home for most of his life. In fact, when we asked Mike what his favorite jobs to oversee, he answered the Stag Bar and upstairs apartments remodel, not only because Mike loved the challenge of completing a remodel of a 1920’s building at the Newport Pier in the middle of summer, but also because it allowed him to ride his beach cruiser to work every day from his house down the boardwalk. Mike is currently supervising the reimaging of City Tower in Orange, our spotlight this month. Mike says he will fish anywhere and anytime and most weekends you might not find him on dry land. As you can see from the attached picture, he also enjoys cruising up and down the boardwalk with his wife of 26 years, Tracey.

Mike’s currently supervising the City Tower in Orange, a twenty-story, 435,000 square foot office tower in Orange owned by KBS Realty. KBS hired IA Interior Architectsand DBaC to reimage the common areas of the building, but it was more than a simple remodel. Through a creative design that identified what the tenants really needed in their common areas the feel of the building is being transformed. As you can see in the attached pictures, the lobby is light, bright and welcoming and has multiple areas for guests to wait for tenants or escape their office and collaborate. There is seating in the main lobby and around the corner a well-appointed eating area with booths and bench seating. When combined with a number of outdoor seating and collaboration options, tenants and guests will have numerous options to spend time in common areas. The outdoor area is under construction and slated to be completed by the end of June. In addition, we built a fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, spin bikes for individual use or small group classes and full service shower areas and lockers. Take a look at the attached pictures but it really is best seen in person, so drop in if you get a chance!
